While fashion will always be my first love, if I could name one thing other than that, that I am equally passionate about, it has to be ‘interiors’. I’m sure you know that already if you are not new to Headtilt. After receiving so much love for my decor posts on instagram all of last year, I decided it’s time to include it as a prime section on the blog. So here I am, writing my first post for the new year under the #SpacesByHeadtilt category. Hoping you guys will enjoy these posts just as much as my Personal Style and Photodiary ones!
A little disclaimer here – while I did study Product Design as my grad course, I do not have any formal education or expertise specifically in the area of Interior Design. I do this purely out of passion and much like my fashion sensibilities, my decor/interiors/home styling is never really based on current trends or calculated rules, and is often just a byproduct of my over-excited visual senses and aesthetic pleasures. So as much as I would love a truly honest feedback/critique from you guys on any of the posts, here’s hoping you’d be gentle 🙂
I shared a few pictures from this space on my social media couple of months back, if you remember, featuring Acasa Bedding, and it’s one of my favorites from the series so far so I thought let’s start with this one itself. I’ve literally been having a ball collaborating with Acasa Bedding because of a number of reasons. The first one being how awesome it is as a brand – each new product better than the previous ones, locally made but caters to a global sensibility and excellent quality offered at reasonable prices. Other that that, it’s really fun for me when a brand just hands me my favorite pick from their collection and gives me complete freedom to style it however I please. It’s almost like when I have a new handbag that I’m so excited to show you guys, I end up styling my entire look around that one piece. Pretty much the same way, each time Acasa sends in pictures of their latest products, my brain gets all happy jumpy and I start visualizing an entire room styled around that one bedding set!
Even though I’m not really a girly girl, I love blush tones. So when I saw this peach frill bedding set at Acasa, I just had to include it somewhere in my home. Sadly, it wasn’t going very well with the earthy tones in my own bedroom. But it did seem like a great fit for the color story in my brother’s room. So yes, that’s where this has been styled and photographed. Obviously my brother was horrified at how I had dolled up his room in the least masculine manner but we both know who’s the boss so there was no stopping me! (Lol I kid; just for a dayyy, I begged him, and he rolled his eyes)
My point is, if you ignore the fact that a guy in his early twenties dwells in this gorgeous room, don’t those colors compliment each other perfectly? I was just happy it wasn’t something I borrowed from Pinterest yet in the end it looked every bit pin-worthy, at least to me! I threw in some ivory frill pillows to compliment the peach frill quilt and matching square pillows along with a round velvet emerald green cushion, added some fresh greens on the side tables, and dived right in to enjoy my cuppa tea in that cosy haven.
