Playing Dress Up with Bhumika Grover

We’re in the middle of what I like to call the “pretty season”. With so many festivities, our wardrobes and looks just keep getting prettier and prettier in the second half of the year and I absolutely love that. I love festive colors, the bling, the ostentatious jewelry, the parties, the liveliness as much as I love the minimalism and muted-ness of the colder months in the beginning of the year. Oh yes, I love embracing the contrasts. Quite the paradox I know, but I seem to enjoy it all, especially when it comes to my sartorial choices. Festive season, though, is certainly the time I feel luckiest to be an Indian woman. There is so much to play with, it’s unbelievable! And as a blogger, I get introduced to so many new brands and designers each year during this time that it’s beyond exciting!

I was recently approached (well not that recently – this post, unfortunately, has had to face a lot of delay – my apologies) by Indianwear designer Bhumika Grover to shoot this lovely influencer campaign for the launch of her new store in Bombay. The label has been around for a while now and year after year, I’ve seen them make the most stunning yet fuss-free lehengas and anarkalis for your wedding soirees. I was thrilled to hear the news of Bhumika opening her second store in my favorite city and was more than humbled to be able to extend support. Even more exciting was the fact that I was going get to shoot with two of my fellow fashion bloggers – Shreya Kalra and Maia Sethna, both of whom I absolutely adore πŸ™‚

So for my look, I picked this sexy (yes, that’s the word I’m blatantly using to describe this beauty, ’cause that is exactly how this outfit made me feel!) lehenga with a sleeveless choli featuring a very elegantly shaped neckline – unlike any of the ones I’ve worn in the past. This outfit was literally love at first sight. As much as I love Bhumika’s use of bright festive hues, this particular one in an unsual shade – call it steel grey, lavender, champagne or beige/taupe really seemed to call out to me. Oh and those beautifully embroidered roses on the blouse. The detailing on this outfit is just impeccable I feel. And then there is this shaded dupatta that she has paired with it which has the taupe tones from the lehenga blending into a lovely powder blue. Genius, I thought. And it looked absolutely gorgeous when worn. Perfect for a cocktail/sangeet I think πŸ™‚ To top it all, Bhumika had on board one of my favorite makeup-artists – Shagun Gupta (follow her on Intagram) who made look like a total glamdoll for this shoot. She also had on board the talented folks from Fotowalle who I think did a phenomenal job with the pictures! Much too grateful for associations like these. Here’s wishing Bhumika immense success with all her future endeavors!

And YOU guys must feel free to add a comment on this look below πŸ™‚

Happy Dussehra!
