Contrary to popular belief, fashion isn’t the cattiest industry. In fact, I feel there is matchless excitement in hanging out with people who ‘get it’! I’ve been fortunate enough to have built connections and sustain friendships with fellow millennials who are always inspiring me with their effervescent energy. So well, what better way to support each other than by combining our collective visions and using each-other’s strengths to co-create content.
After discussing and planning a collaborative shoot over endless coffees and sleepovers, me and luxury blogger Hanadi from Desi High Style (who also happens to be a dear friend and partner in most of my sartorial moments, like you may have noticed) finally made it happen. We’ve been doling out sneak peeks of the same all over our social media platforms over the last few days, so if you are an ardent follower you know exactly what I’m talking about. Our quest to put together looks using Spring/Summer’17 trends as our guide, combined with our shared love for luxury and all things high-end led us to DLF Emporio, the most coveted shopping destination in the capital.
Designed in the genre of a five-star style setting, the luxury mall offers a unique shopping experience with a wealth of designer and premium merchandise, lifestyle products and delectable food joints co-existing under one elegant roof. Avid foodies that we are, Hanadi and I share a special love for the cinnamon donuts, bhel puri and papdi chaat at On The Go, the feta and apple salad at Cafe E, the sushi at Cha Shi and of course the fine-dining at Set’z. The best part about Emporio though is that it is always brimming with energy and excitement about fun events and new launches, yet maintains its luxurious serenity and sublime ambiance, perfect to attract tasteful consumers.
Coming back to our looks, we wanted to make the most of the pattern du jour – stripes, with a hint of metallic for a nod to our full-steam-ahead attitudes. From criss-cross and in-your-face color to graphic and blocky, the stripe parade is having a major moment this summer. After browsing through a bunch of international brands at Emporio, we settled on Missoni, given its youthful spin on the trend. A vibrant, striped, sparkly knit-dress for me and a striped knitted skirt paired with a shiny blush pink top it was for Hanadi. She threw on a gorgeous black Fendi winter coat over it, keeping in mind that we are still transitioning from winter to spring. Feline accessories from Roberto Cavalli’s Spring/Summer’17 collection further amplified the glamour. Shooting at the patio of Set’z in Emporio on a sunny afternoon gave us the opportunity to add sunglasses so we picked up some seriously playful statement-makers from Fendi. While Hanadi chose to go with their Round Wave glasses in red and white, I opted for the Eye-Shine Black and Orange ones, both from their SS’17 range. Fendi bags and sexy red soles from Louboutin’s SS’17 collection completed our looks.
Fendi‘s wallet on chain in glossy graphite-gray calfskin, decorated with macro crystals and two-tone plexiglas rainbow studs is ideal for use both as a mini bag or jewel clutch bag.
The Lion Bangle, from Roberto Cavalli‘s line dedicated to the most charming feline is not to be missed.
Roberto Cavalli‘s gold-plated brass Tusk and Serpent earrings feature a coiled snake top that’s embellished with glistening grey-tone crystals, and a tusk pendant drop adorned with colourful gemstones.
The Gravitanita suede pumps from Christian Louboutin have a natural magnetism that is impossible to resist. A sparkling Swarovski crystal and star dégradé reaches from her pointed toe to the base of her 100mm stiletto heel, illuminating this encre suede pump like the night sky.
Fendi‘s black leather Dotcom Click cross-body bag is framed with colourful floral motifs and yellow eyelets with a macro-weave detail, and has a top handle and a silver-tone chain shoulder strap to take you effortlessly from day to night.
That’s all folks!
