Remember these looks (here & here) I posted from Genes Lecoanet Hemant earlier this year? It’s a brand I’ve had quite an affinity with, owing greatly to their smart, versatile and affordable clothing options for a young, contemporary customer-base with a global mindset. So you can only imagine my excitement when I heard the news of a collaboration brewing up between them and LULU & SKY – an online store that transcends the retail landscape with leading-edge styles.
Now the interesting part was that even though both brands cater to a young audience, their aesthetics and design language are quite unique, with little similarities between the two. While GENES offers timeless, tailored clothing for young professionals featuring a minimal aesthetic, LULU & SKY seems to be more on the fun and playful side with lots of trendy going-out options. And just like one would imagine, an amalgamation of the two was pure magic and quite the surprise – a pleasant one of course!
I had the pleasure of previewing the collection over a fun sun-downer event at Olive Kitchen and Bar recently, along with some of my favorite people from the industry.
Sharing some images from the same below 🙂
The exclusively-designed special edition collection has a lot of fun, vibrant tops, tunics and dresses curated in a pre-festive mindset. From structured dresses and tops in bright solid colors to statement floral maxi dresses, the designs have a bit of a vintage appeal to it. What makes it even more fun is the addition of lace here and there and a lot of flouncy ruffles – certainly my favorite bit! These pieces will be available on LULU & SKY real soon and I just can’t wait to get my hands on them.
For the event, I chose a casual, chic yet easygoing look from Genes, featuring an over-sized white poplin perforated top, paired with these super stylish psychedelic print flared trousers. And for accessorizing the look, I dug out this super old collar neckpiece from H&M that seemed to add just a wee bit of peppiness to the look along with a gold statement cuff with a geometric pattern.
