Coach, the leading New York design house of modern luxury accessories recently launched its first store in Delhi at DLF Emporio and I was absolutely elated to see those tea-rose appliques and metal petals in person. To welcome the brand in my city, I decided to style some in-store bags and accessories paired with some current favorite items in my closet and shoot them at some of Delhi’s most iconic locations.
Anyone who knows me even slightly or has had the briefest conversation with me about my personal style knows I’m all for contrasts. I had a balanced brew of opposing elements in mind while putting this look together – tough yet tender, refined yet relaxed, cautious yet carefree. So I picked out this stunning black lace and ruffle top I had recently bought from Zara and layered it over my black pleated, ruffled tulle skirt from H&M, proudly nodding to my favorite SS’17 trends. The challenge now was to be able to convert that into a seriously chic yet wearable look with an undertone of luxury. Tight curls, bold lips, winged eyeliner, black pumps, and voila, it all seemed to finally come together and form the perfect pairing for my Coach accessories. To offset the femininity of ruffles and tulle in my outfit, I chose to go with an unapologetically bold, industrial-chic Coach Swagger 27 Bag and charm necklace.
While browsing through the pictures of my all-black-everything femme-rebel look later, I couldn’t help but notice how the whole look gave a very punk rock, goth chic kind of vibe – themes I’ve loved from way back in the day when I was probably just a rock-n-roll loving teenager, making this association even more special than I deemed it to be.
Americana-inspired quilting is blown-out in three dimensions, updating the coveted Coach Swagger with texture and craft. Rivets are a hat tip to workwear, while signature Coach patterns on printed haircalf are a luxe take on patchwork.
A big thank you to Genesis Luxury for facilitating this collaboration.
