By Ridhi Mehra & Atelier Mon
There is a perfect synchronicity in gen-next designer extraordinaire Ridhi Mehra’s latest collaboration with Atelier Mon, the renowned handcrafted jewelry label.
The stand-alone details that attested to this designer’s grasp of an easy, modern glamour primarily include ivory floral motifs on indigo backdrops. The applique works, sequins in exquisite patterns and white on white tonal texturing exude an unmistakable touch of classic sophistication with a fair degree of consistency. Short jackets, sarees, anarkali gowns and layered floor length anarkalis are a phenomenal sight to behold with the power to surprise and modernize. It is rather an uplifting rite of spring, perfectly placed between Ridhi Mehra’s graphic modernism and ravishing romance, together with astonishingly innovative details of hath phools, arm bandhs, ear and wrist cuffs with dangling chains and maang tikkas by Atelier Mon. The ineffable selection of Lapis Lazuli and Chalcedony gemstones in every hue is all it takes to cast a fashion spell.
Ridhi is careful not to lose sight of the fact that the collection is for a woman who essentially wants to feel put-together and dainty. It’s not that fashion necessarily needs a narrative to be interesting, but strands of indigo and pearls of white with an inspiration of life by the sea helps lift things above the level of nice clothes on a rack!

(By the way, I LOVE the Parov Stelar track used in the video above!)
Ridhi is clearly inspired by all things Grecian. First it was the famed signature drapes and now the ever-so-serene color palette of blue & white, that casts an equally potent spell. As bloggers, we’ve been fortunate enough to get hold of some of these pieces for a closer look and bask in the glory of this indigo enigma. We took turns, me and Aanchal, slipping into look after look from this majestic collection comfortably enough to make them look like ensembles straight out of our existing wardrobes, while swapping from going behind the lens, then in front of it. Both exciting!
